The dubious gift of the intellect
The human intellect is complex enough that it is capable of conceptualising its own existence.
It is this capacity which leads to so much suffering about 'why' and 'what should and shouldn't be'.
It is also this capacity which allows us to awaken and be in awe and appreciation in a way in which other animals can't.
"the dubious gift of the intellect" ~ Sri Ramesh Balsekar
Seeing things as they are
Expecting life to be pleasure, pleasure, pleasure is like expecting night to never come, you will be continually dissapointed.
The flow of life will always be sometimes pleasure and sometimes pain, that's its nature, so don't be surprised when that's how it turns out.
No need to be pessimistic, but plenty of benefit in being realistic.
The good news is that when a deeper aspect of ourself is Known for what it really is then the presence of pain becomes less significant and am underlying peace with life is there.
Start seeing certain mundane aspects of life as they really are and you might be surprised at how much else gets seen for what it is.
Know thyself.
Comparison
Comparison - great for playing the game 'spot the difference', not so good when playing the game of life.
The only way
When two chemicals come in contact with each other they are destined to react a very, very particular way - ie, exactly as it happens.
How many ways can you react in a particular circumstance?
Expectation
Expectation reduces life down to something it will never be, and is the father of dissapointment.
Jnana is Bhakti, Bhakti is Jnana
The flowering of Jnana Yoga is Bhakti, and the flowering of Bhakti Yoga is Jnana.
The complete realisation that 'I'm not the doer' (Jnana) reveals that each thought, each movement, each breath has always been and will always be in total service to God (Bhakti).
And on the other hand, the total dedication of all we do as an offering in service to God (Bhakti), reveals that 'I have never been the doer' (Jnana).
Two paths, two methodologies, revealing the one Truth. Two facets, love and wisdom, of the one diamond.
The only truth in manifestation
Life is completely mysterious, nonetheless, that I exist, I Am, is undeniable.
Discontent
Your discontent is never due to what someone else has done to you.
Who?
Who put your beliefs in place?
Landing
Are you aware that you have an attitude towards the flow of life !?
